
Jean Lemonnier was born in July 1999 in France. Interested in notions of sciences and spirituality, Jean aims to create fictions of alternative permanence through various mediums.
In 2021, Jean degreed from MO.CO. ESBA, fine arts based in Montpellier, France, where he worked on different mediums and techniques like drawing, engraving, video, volume with wood and metal. He moved in 2022 to Japan to continue his studies at Tokyo University of the Arts master Global Arts Practice, where he discovered stone carving and perfected his skills on video and ink drawings. He graduated in 2024 and won the GAP Award.
He is now based in Takamatsu, Japan, working as a stonemason to learn more about this medium and get closer to Japanese graves and local rituals, while keeping himself busy working on his ongoing and upcoming projects.
