Arbolithic Shrine is my first (eternal) land art work.
I did it in the forest of Teshima, I was walking out of the path, got a little lost and found this space with so many big flat rocks on the ground. Of course so many trees too, as many as a forest can give. I had about an hour or so before heading back to the port and take my ride back to mainland, so I used this time to pick those big rocks and put them in the tree. I wanted to create a spiritual monument. I see it as a minimalistic, archaic architecture hidden in the wood, made to be found and interacted with. It’s the starter element of an eternal collaboration with nature and humans who might find it and might continue to make this architecture evolve (I hope). It doesn’t worship any god, it worship the collaboration of humans and humans, humans and material, through time and events. A common secret effort of unknown individuals. Hence, it doesn’t have much value now, but will have through time, as more and more people will face it randomly and give their touch to it.
